Ski Days

On most weekends, we have two potential skiing locations: one closer to Calgary and one further into the mountains. Snow/driving conditions will determine the location. An email will be sent each Saturday evening to specify the venue.

Tentative plan for Nipika Loppet

Overnight from Friday to Sunday at Radium Resort
Saturday morning drive to Nipika Loppet (30-40 min from Radium Resort). Start time is 11:00 a.m.. If you don't want to race, there are other trails to ski so come along anyway!
Saturday evening: Club Dinner with award ceremony about 6:00 p.m. in Radium Resort. After dinner, enjoy soaking/swimming in the Resort hot tub/swimming pool or drive to Radium Hot Springs pools (about 5 min from Radium Resort).
Sunday: Free time. Option of skiing on the Radium Resort property, as they have a golf course with X-country ski tracks.
Club members are encouraged to stay in the hotel for both nights, but staying for only one night or not at all is also possible.

If interested, each family needs to do the following:

Call the Radium Resort at 1-800-667-6444 to reserve a room. When making the reservation, refer to the "Rocky Mountain Jackrabbit Ski Club room block" to get a discounted rate of $79.00/room/night plus tax for a room with 2 queen-size beds or $89.00/night plus tax for a room with 2 queen-size beds and a sofa. All reservations must be made by January 15, 2010 to guarantee rate and availability.
Register for the race (optional)
Register for the race if you wish to race. This can be done by asking Jan Storek to register you/your family (by emailing jstorek@ucalgary.ca by January 17). If you prefer to do the registration yourself, do it online for 9+ year old children and adults (deadline one day prior to the race) and in person on the day of race at Nipika for children age 8 or younger (deadline 10:00 a.m.—one hour prior to the race start). The registration cost is $20-40 per 9+ year old child or adult, and $5 for children age 8 or younger.

Tentative Plan for Biathlon

Meet at COP in ski gear at 6:15 p.m., instruction will begin at 6:30 p.m.sharp. Kids ages 7+, regardless of experience, are invited to attend. The cost will be $30, andfurther information will follow from Kelsey

Tentative plan for Goat Creek

Meet Saturday morning in Banff at Goat Creek Trail head (west)
take a chartered bus to Spray Lakes Goat Creek Trailhead (East)
ski 19 km along Goat Creek to Banff
lodge in Canmore or return home if desired

Arrive Friday and break tracks
Family Group Ski Saturday 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Club dinner about 6:00 p.m. Saturday evening, followed by games
